VINCE CARTER’S 2010 CHARITY GALA

On Saturday, March 27, 2010, a group of Embassy of Hope Foundation supporters, including corporations, joined the Vince Carter Charity Gala at the Sunset Harbor Yacht Club in Daytona Beach, Florida. The semi-formal affair included a silent auction and a live auction featuring a Vince Carter autographed jersey; a Dwight Howard autographed jersey, and a Magic team autographed basketball. Overlooking the Halifax River, guests were greeted with lively music, as well as tasty hors d’oeuvres. It was an exciting evening as Vince thanked everyone for his/her continued support of his efforts to positively impact his community. Everyone seemed to enjoy the lively dancing, socializing, and raising funds for the Embassy of Hope Foundation and the events’ beneficiaries.

All of the gala guests were treated to a surprise this year, as some of Vince’s teammates with the Orlando Magic joined in the fun and celebration. Dwight Howard, Jameer Nelson, Adonal Foyle, and Matt Barnes contributed to the silent auction and kept the dance floor hopping. As all of the guests danced and watched, Dwight and Vince stole the show with their “light-footed” renditions of the Electric Slide, Cha Cha Slide, and any other dance that hit the floor that night.

The 2010 beneficiaries of the Embassy of Hope annual fundraisers are Hospice of Volusia/Flagler and the Vince Carter $5000 “Believing In Your Dreams” Scholarship Fund. These beneficiaries provide assistance for individuals and families facing end-of-life care and decisions, and the opportunity for a male and female graduating senior from a Volusia County school to receive a $5000 scholarship to continue his and her education at an institution of higher learning.

Still to come is the Vince Carter Charity Golf Classic on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at LPGA International. This is a shotgun scramble beginning at 8:30 a.m. with a full breakfast and lunch included in the $150.00 registration fee. Click on the links at www.vincecarter15.com to register.
