Embassy of Hope Annual Fundraisers 2009

On Friday, July 10, 2009, over 250 enthusiastic contributors, including corporations, joined the Vince Carter Charity Gala at the Sunset Harbor Yacht Club inDaytona Beach, Florida.  The semi-formal affair included a silent auction and a surprise live auction item.  Overlooking theHalifax River, guests were greeted with lively music, as well as tasty hors d’oeuvres.  It was an exciting evening as Vince thanked everyone for his/her continued support of his efforts to positively impact his community, and he offered his one-of-a-kind Magic jersey up for bid.  This jersey was only worn when he had his pictures taken as a new member of the Orlando Magic.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the lively dancing, socializing, and raising funds for the Embassy of Hope Foundation and the events’ beneficiaries.

On Sunday, July 26, 2009, Vince Carter’s Embassy of Hope Foundation hosted the Vince Carter Charity Golf Classic at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida.  A host of enthusiastic golfers, including celebrities Chuckie Atkins and Nykesha Sales, began the morning with a full breakfast before team pictures with Vince, Chuckie and Nykesah teeing off on the Champions Course.  At the conclusion of the day, golfers and volunteers enjoyed an appetizing lunch in the clubhouse.  Prizes were awarded for foursomes placing first, second, and third as well as a male and female closest to the pin and longest drive recognition.  The exceptional breakfast and lunch, and camaraderie among the golfers and the celebrities fulfilled a day of fun while raising much needed funds for charity.

Beneficiaries of the Embassy of Hope annual fundraisers were Stewart-Marchman-Act Project WARM, the United Negro College Fund, and the Vince Carter $5000 “Believing In Your Dreams” Scholarship Fund. These beneficiaries provide assistance for women with children in drug rehabilitation, scholarships for students attending Bethune-Cookman University, and the opportunity for a male and female graduating senior from a Volusia County school to receive a $5000 scholarship to continue his and her education at an institution of higher learning.

Plans are in place for the 2010 Embassy of Hope fundraising events.  The Vince Carter Charity Gala will be on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at the Sunset Harbor Yacht Club and the Vince Carter Charity Golf Classic will be on Sunday, July 18, 2010, at LPGA International.  Mark your calendars now!!  We look forward to seeing you.
