Golf and Poker for Charity

As the summer draws to a close for NBA professional basketball players, so too does Vince Carter’s Embassy of Hope Foundation’s efforts to raise much-needed funds to help children and families in need. Following a successful Vince Carter Charity Gala, the Vince Carter Charity Golf Classic was held at LPGA International on Sunday, July 18, 2010. A full field of golfers enjoyed a complete breakfast before teeing off at 8:30 a.m. Golfers were treated to Lorry’s Lucky Lemonade as they played and everyone returned to the clubhouse for a filling and enjoyable lunch. Prizes were awarded to first, second, and third place foursomes as well as the longest drive and closest to the pin for both a female and a male. The golfers enjoyed their day out on the links to help the Embassy of Hope Foundation and Hospice of Volusia/Flagler Counties.

On August 1, 2010, a group of intense poker players joined Vince at the Daytona Beach Kennel Club for the inaugural Vince Carter Embassy of Hope Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament sponsored by Rue & Ziffra. The tournament began around 1:00 p.m. and the trophy was finally claimed by Evan Kroft at 10:00 p.m. In the middle of play, the players were treated to an early dinner, courtesy of Vince Carter’s restaurant, piano lounge, and sports grill, Daytona’s newest “spin” on dining. Poker enthusiasts participated in a silent auction winning an autographed JJ Reddick jersey, an autographed Vince Carter jersey, basketball, and shoe, as well as two prime tickets to a Magic game during the 2010-2011 season. What a tournament! Everyone who attended had fun and felt good about raising money for Vince’s foundation and The Jerry Doliner Food Bank
