A Night to Remember: Vince Carter’s 26th Embassy of Hope Foundation Gala

Fresh off the exhilarating high of being inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and having his jersey retired by not one—but two NBA teams (the Brooklyn Nets and the Toronto Raptors), Vince Carter kept the celebration going in true Carter fashion. He rolled out the red carpet for the 26th Annual Embassy of Hope Foundation Gala—an unforgettable evening filled with elegance, laughter, dancing, and heartfelt moments of giving back.
From start to finish, the night sparkled. Host Bobby Thigpen kept the energy alive, making sure there wasn’t a single dull moment. Guests enjoyed a delectable feast by Sodexo, while Showtime DJs had the dance floor moving all night long. Beautiful jewels from Gems by Jamie (Yeomans) caught the eyes of many, and the silent auction drew plenty of friendly competition—especially when an autographed Josh Allen jersey, generously donated by the Buffalo Bills, ignited a spirited bidding war.
But beyond the fun and festivities, the evening shined brightest during the honors and recognitions. Past and present scholarship recipients of the foundation were introduced, a reminder of the lives forever changed by these opportunities. The Embassy of Hope also proudly inducted its 2025 Hall of Fame honorees—Linda Huger and the late Tim Huth—presenting each with a specially encased, autographed Vince Carter basketball to honor their tireless dedication to the community.
The room erupted with emotion during a surprise tribute to Ann Smith, who was recognized for an incredible 25 years of service as assistant to Dr. Michelle Carter, Executive Director of the Foundation. Her unwavering commitment drew heartfelt applause from all.
The night wouldn’t have been complete without the much-anticipated “Ask the Carters” session. Back by popular demand, Vince Carter and his mom, Dr. Michelle Carter, took the hot seat as sponsors posed thoughtful—and often playful—questions that gave everyone a peek into their dynamic bond.
It was truly a night to remember—one that combined glamour with purpose. Most importantly, the evening’s proceeds will continue fueling the Embassy of Hope’s mission, supporting children and family programs and the “Believing in Your Dreams” Scholarship Fund. Since its founding in 1998, the Embassy of Hope Foundation has proudly donated more than $2 million across the United States and Canada.
Vince Carter’s legacy is more than basketball—it’s about hope, opportunity, and lifting others to achieve their dreams. If you would like to help continue the Embassy of Hope Foundation’s mission, you can donate.
