VINCE CARTER’S EMBASSY OF HOPE FOUNDATION PROVIDES FOOD AT CHRISTMAS
Large boxes filled with white and sweet potatoes, cornbread, eggs, celery, canned vegetables, rolls, stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, margarine, onions, and gravy along with a turkey and a ham and one bunch of fresh collard greens from a local farm in Samsula, Florida were given to over 100 families on Monday, December 22, 2014. Named “Believing in Christmas”, this marked the 16th year that Vince Carter’s Embassy of Hope Foundation has provided a holiday feast for families in need. For the second time, we also had anonymous donors help provide the baskets. These generous donations came from friends of Vince Carter’s Embassy of Hope Foundation.
Families and agencies came in cars, on bicycles, and the bus to the Vince Carter Athletic Center in Daytona Beach, Florida, to pick up the boxes. Most appropriately, there is a statue of Vince holding out his hand to help others.
“It is very difficult for some families to provide a big meal at any time, much less at Christmas,” said NBA Memphis Grizzlies basketball player Vince Carter. “I hope this helped them have a little better Christmas than they might have had otherwise. We know that the need is great and we just try to do as much as we can.”
As 2015 begins, Vince and the Embassy of Hope Foundation Board of Directors hope that you and your family have a healthy and prosperous New Year.
